Types of Solid Timber Flooring

This structural timber flooring, typically available in 19-21mm thick is fixed to softwood panel subfloors of particleboard or plywood, over joists or battens or direct to a concrete slab. It provides a traditional timber floor renowned for its strength, durability and character. As such, throughout its life, it can be rejuvenated to near new conditions by sanding and re-finishing. It can be topnailed or secretly fixed and glued to concrete slabs.

Rosenfeld Kidson typically supplies flooring with a secret nail profile to allow secure fixing without top nailing. Solid timber flooring is most commonly laid direct to the concrete slab using specialist adhesives and water-proof membranes.

Boards can also be ‘end-matched’ to facilitate end-jointing between joists and to avoid laborious end-docking on-site.

This tongue and groove flooring is available in a range of timber widths. These vary by species and range from 65 to 220mm cover.

Tongue and groove overlay flooring is a popular and economical option for those wanting the beauty and luxury of a solid hardwood floor, at a more economical price. Available in a range of timber species, this solid wood flooring product is designed to overlay concrete or an existing timber, plywood or particleboard floor. Tongue and groove overlay timber flooring is typically available in a 13mm thickness.

Block parquet is usually produced in a 19mm finished thickness but thinner options are also available. Common block parquet dimensions are 260x65mm and 340x85mm.
